Television and Film Makeup offers to students basic professional skills required to work in the film and television industry as a makeup artist. The course is divided into four categories: Production essentials are presented, including the production team, makeup artist roles, and set etiquette. Students learn about how to break down the script. Basic makeup is designed to teach makeup artists how to compensate for undesirable changes in appearance introduced by the television and film process. Color theory and color correction methods are presented and modeled. Students learn how corrective makeup is designed to enhance positive attributes and downplay flaws, and techniques used for face shapes. Character makeup instruction introduces major changes to an actor’s appearance and how to apply makeup based on a character’s physical features and attributes.
